Song Contest Jukebox

What is it?

︎Audio responsive project and mapping
︎Interactive jukebox installation
︎Creative recontectulization of archived audio files

Song Contest Jukebox is a project created in collaboration with the Chatham University Archives.
Song Contest occurred from 1958-1989 at what was formerly known as Chatham College.
Students would perform an original song and an original Chatham College
song each academic year grouped by graduating class year (freshman, sophomore, etc.).
Currently, MP3 files are archived one the Chatham University Archives website to allow for people
to learn about this tradition. Song Contest Jukebox takes these audio recordings and allows
for individuals to come and interact with these pieces of Chatham’s past in a fun and interesting way.
Located by the entrance of Chatham Univeristy’s Jenny King Mellon Library, the jukebox allows for users to
wear headphones and select a song to listen to which has been populated into the jukebox.
A projection is implemented to show which song has been selected and
give an audio-responsive visuals that are unique to each song.
This project relies on projections and projection-mapping using Touchdesigner.
